Win the Whining War and Other Skirmishes will help you eliminate the behavior and take back your peace. Whitham makes us look at our behavior and how it sparks reactions in our children, as well as the reactions that they spark in us.

Then she presents a step-by-step guide to increasing cooperation and reducing conflict with children 2-12 years old. Positive reinforcement of behaviors parents like is her key: praise the act one approves of, ignore bad behavior, and set limits (clearly explained) on intolerable behavior. This book reads very easily and the methods are immediately applicable.

If you find yourself facing whining, complaining, sass, dawdling, tantrums, teasing, interrupting, etc. I definitely recommend Whitham’s book.
